Folding back into TPC

After some discussion, I've decided that Reinforcements will find itself folded back into The Painting Corps with a bit more detail as an irregular feature.

I appreciate those of you who've taken the time to follow what's been happening on this end, and you can expect to see much the same as you've seen here over on TPC entitled, you guessed it, Reinforcements!

All the best!

Guardian Test

I've had this guy finished for a while now, but was waiting until I'd get some additional guys done to post a photo. The additional models haven't come yet, so I thought I would put him up as I was testing out my new photo set up!

Again, no true black past the base rim for this guy. That's the hallmark for the army, and will continue throughout. The blued highlights are also a break from standard Ulthwe.

Hopefully I can get caught up with school work to get back to these guys a bit more. They're not hard to paint, not all that time consuming either. Just need to find the motivation and time!

Eldar Farseer Finished

Took some time to knock out my first model for the Eldar! I've decided to go with an Ulthwe scheme for them, with a little twist to the black. I haven't actually used black paint on the model past painting the base rim. The black was German Grey airbrushed on with a grey highlight washed down with Badab Black and final highlights done using Shadow Grey followed by Space Wolves Grey.

I'm not trying to take forever with these guys, I just want to paint them. The farseer got a bit more time taken on him, mostly because of the details. Hope to work out more tomorrow!

Eldar Progress

Just a quick snapshot of the eldar I've assembled and primed so far. Still have a bunch more stuff to go. Apparently, I've got around 1500 points spread around my hobby room from some things I've purchased, gotten in trade or picked up from friends that wanted to get rid of them!

Airbrush parts are on the way which will facilitate the paint for these guys. Picked up a metal siphon cup and some more pots/tops/covers for it as well. Once airbrush parts get in, I'll be doing base coloring for everything at once! Stay tuned.

Sons of Medusa Dreadnought

Click for Full Size

He's done! I'm happy with how he came out. A bit more weathered than Perseus, but right on par with other armor in the army, he fits in nicely. Not sure what point value having him finished puts me at, but I am looking forward to fielding this army again more and more.

Dragonforge Based Eldar

A couple of weeks back I entered a quick contest Jeff Wilhelm was running over on his blog. Jeff runs Dragonforge.com, one of many resin basing companies that have popped up in the past few years. I've never been huge into the buying resin bases thing, I picked up some a few months back during BoLSCon and while nice, they always seem to fall into one of two categories, too detailed or crazy for use for an entire army, or just too easy to make on your own for a fraction of the cost. I kept this mindset for a long time, right up until I found the Lost Empires set from Jeff. While I loved the set, I still didn't see myself snagging them due to cost restraint. Then, out of nowhere I check Jeff's blog and see that I'd won $50 worth of bases!

I came home today to see the package sitting in front of the door waiting for me, and since then I've been hard at modeling some spare Eldar I'd picked up from a friend. Check out the pic above to see a quick example of the bases and be sure you head over to Dragonforge.com and see if anything strikes your fancy. I'm for sure picking up more of these from Jeff in the future as I exhaust this supply! Also keep your eyes peeled for a bit more in depth thoughts/review on TPC as I finish some of these models.

Sons of Medusa Dreadnought WIP

My latest project is another addition to the boys in Green. Did most of what you see on him this past Sunday. Airbrush made my base colors far easier to get down, and as of now, he's about halfway finished. Still a lot of detail work and weathering to go, but he's already fitting in nicely with his big brother Perseus!

Expect more progress soon!
